How to Straighten Teeth Without Braces
For many, wearing metal braces was a rite of passage. For straight teeth, you needed to go through a few years of discomfort and a shiny metal smile. Now, orthodontics has changed. There are more comfortable options than traditional wires and brackets. Here’s how to straighten teeth without braces at Three Creek Dentistry:
Invisalign
Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners. Made of thin, clear plastic, Invisalign is a great alternative to metal braces. Virtually invisible, they can be removed while you eat, brush, and floss. Keeping your teeth clean is much easier with Invisalign than with traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are custom-fit for your teeth. They can straighten horizontally and vertically. They can even rotate teeth if necessary. Every two weeks, you switch out the aligners with a new set. Teenagers who want their teeth straightened without traditional braces should consider Invisalign Teen.
ClearCorrect
Used since 2009, ClearCorrect aligners are similar to Invisalign. You wear each set for a certain number of weeks and then switch to another set as your teeth become straighter. ClearCorrect can fix issues such as gaps, bite issues, and crowded teeth.
Here at Three Creek Dentistry, Dr. Trinh or Dr. Lam will first get impressions of your teeth. This helps us figure out what needs to change to get the straightness you want. This information is sent to ClearCorrect where they create virtual models of your teeth as they are now and how they will look after straightening. Your customized clear aligners are 3D printed based on these models.
Which Option Should You Choose?
Slight differences between Invisalign and ClearCorrect exist, so we’ll work together to decide which works best. Either one provides a great alternative to traditional metal braces. If you have any questions or want to book an appointment at our Derwood office, please contact us!
