What Are the Signs of Dental Implant Damage?
A dental implant has two main parts: a titanium screw in your jawbone and a tooth replacement, which is often a crown. Either part can get damaged, although breaking the tooth replacement is a more common problem that’s easier to fix. Signs of dental implant damage include pain when you chew, a bad taste in the implant area, swelling and tender gums, and crown looseness.
What’s It Like to Get an Implant Fixed?
As soon as you suspect a problem with your implant, you should contact us right away. Depending on your symptoms, we may want to see you immediately. We’ll examine the implant and create a restoration plan. If we only need to repair or replace the crown, there’s little to no recovery time. If the implant itself (the titanium post) needs repairs, recovery can take a few weeks. It’s fairly rare for a successfully fused implant to need repairs, however.
Will Insurance Pay for a Restoration?
If your implant restoration is necessary for your oral health, insurance will likely pay for treatment. If you don’t have insurance or your implant is considered cosmetic, we offer a Dental Savers Plan and accept payment plans through GreenSky.
