When Is the Best Time to Begin Orthodontic Treatment?

Braces are so common among young patients, they’re almost like a rite of passage. But whether you’re a young patient or an adult patient, how do you know when the right time for orthodontic treatment is? While the short answer is it depends on your unique smile, we’ll explain how you can tell that it’s time to take your child to the orthodontist.

What Is Orthodontic Treatment?

Ideally, everyone’s teeth would grow straight, but that isn’t the case for many for a variety of reasons. Orthodontic treatment is designed to help properly straighten teeth and align the jaws so that they can make for fully functional smiles. Traditional metal braces can correct overbites, crossbites, open bites, spacing issues, and crowding, allowing for a well-aligned smile. For adult patients, clear aligner therapy is a subtle way to straighten your teeth and shift them into their desired positions!

How Orthodontic Treatment Works at Three Creek Dentistry

We offer two types of clear aligner therapy at Three Creek Dentistry: ClearCorrect and Invisalign. ClearCorrect uses thinner material which some patients prefer for its comfort and subtlety, while Invisalign uses SmartTrack® technology which some patients say makes the aligners easier to slip over and remove from the teeth.

Clear aligner therapy is great for mild to moderate crookedness and bite issues.

Unlike traditional metal braces, clear aligners are removable and should not be worn during meals or while you brush and floss your teeth. Clear aligner therapy is also a progressive treatment, so every couple of weeks you will receive a new set of aligners to wear. Given the upkeep involved in clear aligner therapy, we recommend this type of orthodontic treatment for teenagers and adult patients.

Is Clear Aligner Therapy Affordable?

Three Creek Dentistry makes every effort to make our treatments affordable for patients of all backgrounds. During your consultation, we’ll make sure to carefully break down the projected cost of your treatment before you commit to anything.
